Compression

compression aims to condense data so that data obtained will be smaller than its capacity so it does not need to require a large storage space. Lots of data can becompressed, such as images, documents, videos, and others. From the material Ilearned there are two kinds of compression techniques, the lossless compression andlossy compression.

1. Lossless compression

The original data obtained from lossless compression cans be recovered from itscompressed data

e.g. Huffman Coding

2. Lossy compression

Compressed data of lossy compression can not be recovered to the original data.

e.g. JPEG (still images), MPEG (video / motion image)
